Global buffet

Dining at the Global Buffet Culture is too variable among people but overall it means to share ideas, customs, beliefs and norms among a populous. The diversity of culture is great today because man has diverted from his early days of band and tribal communities. Even those early humans shared these commonalities that cohesively bound them to one another to create a society. The details may have changed from then, man has grown in brain power and has lead to a great advent of discovery of the unknown world.

In modern 21st century Earth culture is spreading globally due to the flattening of the world due to the effects of cheaper communication technology. American culture for example can now diffuse rapidly to other countries within the click or stroke of a key. This collaboration of ideas paves way for a global culture where the ideas of people will be similar. It’s almost like we are moving toward a global conscious of man powered by the fiber optic cables of the internet. Strange how man once nomadically traveled the world to search for sustenance and now that very world is behind the screen of an LCD display.

Aimé Césaire would agree that culture should be inclusive and to deny something from culture would be a pretentious ploy by those who consider themselves elitists who shy away from undesirables. One shouldn’t be picky in their foods because they not only limit their horizons but there are cultures out there still waiting to be discovered and admired.

  1. I like how you use food as a common relation among all to relate to everyone. But I feel that it is missing the fact everything in America (food wise) is "americanized". Italian, Chinese, Korean, German, Mexican, etc... all food isn't very original here in the US. Hence not giving your argument as much credibility in the cultural diversity department.

  3. culture is indeed transcendent across space and time. As the intellect mind evolve past the primitive old ways, as technology takes it's toll, a need to redefine that perfect way in which we live our lives arises. And with the wide spread of communication, we can dip into the ideas and fall in love with other people's definitions or expectations of that perfect way of life. And like you have noted, is leading to a global culture.

One time sandals was a reigning thing. it made sense in it's whole living, judging from the hot sun that beat on us as we traded down the road, to our various locations on the plains of Africa, precisely, Nigeria. Before one could turn to two, and two become three, before the lips could alter hello, there came running in American culture, like wide fire, destroying every ounce of reason. people feel in love with boots, well the women. both ankle long, short long, and up to the knee long. in the hot summer, people wore boots. no matter how much heat and sweat perspires. The wear boats because Americans do. of course they do, because of the cold weather. what's your excuse? because it looked fashionable. this culture adopted by others, this fashion style and way of dressing adopted because of the weather, i will adopt it for adopting sake, for beauty, because I have seen and loved it. With open technology and wide spread communication, people all around the world can take bits of every culture they find lovable and good. creating a mosaic of perfection!
